Myths, Mythology, Folklore, and Urban Legends are ideas and stories that can refer to any traditional story. In early classifications Myths and such were created for many reasons; to explain how the world came to exist, how to explain the scientific nature of something not yet understood, to personify nature and of course for religious purposes. Fundamentally, these supernatural characters helped to establish good and bad behavior models and consequences or punishment for non-conforming behavior. Amulets were worn for protection, good luck and to signify beliefs.
